Resolution Relaunches SaySomethingin: A New Era for a Longstanding Partnership

    Mockup for the SaySomethingin website

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the brand new SaySomethingin website. A bold step into the future for one of the most innovative language learning platforms out there.

We’ve had the pleasure of working alongside SaySomethingin for several years, and this latest collaboration marks a powerful new chapter in our journey together.

    A Fresh Digital Experience

SaySomethingin has always stood apart in the world of language learning, offering a revolutionary methodology that gets learners speaking quickly and confidently. In 2024, they launched their app on the Google Play and iOS stores so you can learn on the go, launching with Portuguese, Irish, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese and Welsh with more languages being launched throughout 2025 and beyond.

The new website had to match the energy of the business. Intuitive, modern, accessible, and fully aligned with the evolving brand.

With a complete design and UX overhaul, we’ve brought a fresh visual language and streamlined interface to the site, ensuring that users can more easily discover the right courses, language information, company news and app details. The website experience now feels as dynamic as the methodology itself.
    Built for Growth

This relaunch wasn’t just about a fantastic new look; it was about future-proofing the platform. We’ve restructured the site architecture for scalability, improved mobile responsiveness, and ensured seamless integration with SaySomethingin’s learning tools. Our design is ready to support their global ambitions, expansion and ever-expanding community of learners.

    A Partnership Built on Trust

Our ongoing collaboration with SaySomethingin is something we’re genuinely proud of. Over the years, we’ve worked together on several projects, evolving not just the website but the social media and digital marketing strategies step by step, while staying true to its core mission.

This relaunch is the culmination of deep strategic thinking, creative design, and technical execution, and it reflects the trust and shared vision that defines our partnership.

    Looking Ahead

With the new SaySomethingin website now live and thriving, we’re excited to continue supporting the team with design, branding, and digital solutions as they grow their offering and reach more learners around the world.

If you’re looking to transform your digital presence and form a long-standing partnership, we’d love to talk. Reach out to our team to get the ball rolling – [email protected]

A Look Back at Social Media and the Evolution of Digital Marketing

Social media tabs on a mobile phone

Few forces in this world have had as profound an impact as social media. What began as a space for casual connections with school friends has transformed into a global marketplace, branding platform, and real-time customer service channel. This is possibly not what Mark Zuckerberg had in mind when he helped to create Facebook!

As we go further into 2025, and with debates over TikTok’s future still playing out in U.S courts, we thought it would be fitting to reflect on how far we’ve come and what it means for businesses today.

    The Early Days

Long before Instagram and Facebook dominated our phone screens, early digital communities like bulletin board systems (BBS) and forums set the groundwork. These platforms were primitive by today’s standards, but provided the very first taste of online interaction and the limits to which it could go.

Then came MySpace, founded in 2003. It was a true game changer that let users express themselves with music, backgrounds, and personality. Internet personas were born, but for brands, however, the focus was very much still on static websites and email marketing.

Facebook, Twitter and the Democratisation of Brand Voice

When Facebook opened its doors (virtually) to the public in 2006, it marked the beginning of a new era. Suddenly there were more ways to interact with each other (remember poking your friends?!) and with this, brands had the opportunity to engage in two-way conversations with customers. Twitter soon followed, offering real-time interaction and ushering in the new age of “always-on” marketing.

Digital marketing began to shift from push-based advertising to content-driven strategies. Businesses that adapted quickly saw success by building communities and creating content that resonated.

Forget the Industrial Revolution, here comes the Visual Revolution!

As broadband and smartphones sat together in harmony, visual content began to take centre stage. Platforms like Instagram, which launched 15 years ago in 2010, Pinterest and YouTube put storytelling through imagery and video at the forefront.

Marketing strategies evolved to include influencer partnerships, brand storytelling, and aspirational content. Consumers no longer just bought a product; they were buying into an entire lifestyle package.

    The Rise of the Algorithm

By the mid-2010s, organic reach began to decline as platforms introduced algorithmic feeds (which is every digital marketer’s worst enemy). While this made content more relevant to the individual user, it posed a challenge for brands. Introducing… paid socials.

Suddenly, businesses had access to hyper-targeted audiences. This ushered in the age of data-driven marketing, where A/B testing, customer personas, and ROI metrics became vital to success.

TikTok, Authenticity and the Creator Economy

Fast forward to today, and TikTok has redefined what it means to be creative and authentic online. With short-form video dominating, the focus has shifted from polished perfection to real, relatable content.

The creator economy has exploded, and continues to do so, giving rise to micro-influencers, UGC (user-generated content), EGC (employee-generated content) and community-first campaigns. Brands that succeed now are those that can be agile, authentic, and willing to take part in cultural moments.

So, where do we go now?

We see several key trends continuing to shape digital marketing:

    • AI & Automation – Tools powered by AI are streamlining everything from content creation to customer service.
    • Privacy & Trust – With tighter data regulations and growing consumer awareness, transparency is a non-negotiable.
    • Social Commerce – The line between content and commerce continues to blur with integrated shopping experiences.
    • Brand Purpose – Audiences increasingly expect brands to stand for something more than just profit.

We’ve seen firsthand how digital marketing has evolved, and continues to evolve, and how overwhelming it can feel to keep up. However, the core meaning remains: success still comes down to understanding your audience and delivering meaningful, authentic experiences.

Digital platforms will continue to evolve, algorithms will inevitably shift, but brands that listen, adapt, and create with purpose will always find their place.

If you’re ready to future-proof your digital marketing strategy, we’re here to help. Get in touch today!

Despite predictions of its decline, email remains a powerhouse. According to recent data, global email users are expected to reach over 4.7 billion in 2025. Engagement rates for personalised, segmented campaigns continue to outperform many newer channels. And for ROI? Email marketing still reigns supreme.

So yes, email marketing is not only relevant, it’s essential.

    Why It Still Works

    Direct and Personal

Email offers a direct line to your audience, unlike the ever-crowded noise of social media feeds. With thoughtful segmentation, businesses can deliver timely, relevant content that feels personalised, not spammy.

    Owned Audience

Social media platforms can change their algorithm overnight. With email, you can own your list. The stability is critical for long-term growth and brand consistency/engagement.

    Automation & AI Integration

Tools are allowing for smarter automations and AI-driven results. We help our clients to implement intelligent workflows that drive conversions and nurture leads, without lifting a finger!

    Email Marketing at Resolution

Our team doesn’t just ‘do email’. We create strategic, branded campaigns that align with your business goals and integrate seamlessly with your broader marketing plan.

    • Custom design that reflects your brand
    • Performance analytics to measure open rate, click-throughs and conversions

Whether you’re a B2B consultancy or a local lifestyle brand, our approach is always tailored, collaborative and results-driven.

Ready to Rethink Your Email Strategy?

Brands that win are those that understand their audience and speak to them with authenticity and value. We help brands communicate with clarity, creativity and care.
If you’ve been underestimating the power of your inbox, now is the time to rethink. Let’s talk about how we can refresh your email marketing and make it work smarter for your business.

Woods Valldata website design & development

It’s difficult to overstate the importance of websites in today’s digital age. A well-designed website not only delivers key information about your business, products and services but should also capture your brand identity. In doing this, a website becomes a gateway to connect customers and clients directly to you and your business. They are a tool for driving growth, strengthening customer relationships, and ultimately, keeping you competitive.

So, yes, a website is essential. Partnering with a creative agency that understands your business ensures a smoother process and the best possible results. Explore our recent projects to see how we’ve brought businesses to life online.

How often should you update your website?

In a nutshell, we recommend updating your website every four years. Within that time frame, your business has likely grown or developed in new ways. Rather than working with extras tagged onto your website, a rebuild ensures your site is efficient and cohesive when viewed from the front-end or admin area.

Design trends and web technology are constantly evolving and improving. Keeping your website updated reduces the risk of errors caused by unsupported code. It also allows you looking fresh so you stand out against your competitors.

    WordPress Websites

The majority of our websites are built using WordPress. With over 10 years of experience working with this hugely versatile and scalable CMS, we know all the tricks to delivering high-quality, bespoke websites that do exactly what you need.

Our Process: from concept to launch

Scoping: kicking off your website project

The development of every website begins with scoping. During this phase, we take the time to get to know everything about you: do you need e-commerce, where are the weaknesses, which sites inspire you, what are your business goals for the next year or 5 years? With this information and more, the foundation of your website starts to come into focus.

Website design: the look and feel of your website

With the scoping of your website determined, we first confirm a sitemap plan. Then, the project passes to the talented hands of our design team. With a wealth of industry know-how and experience, including responsive design, accessibility and UX (user experience), you can rest assured that your site will be technically up to scratch. They are able to bring together insights from the scoping and design inspiration to deliver a refreshing design for your website.

We start with the homepage. As the primary page users will land on, it’s vital that it both looks and feels right while delivering the information and functionality needed for your users. Once we get this spot on, our designs will use the homepage to broaden your website design onto a selection of key pages.

Website development: the building blocks of your website

With the designs signed off, it’s over to the dev team.  WordPress websites can deliver a comprehensive system of bespoke layouts, styling and animations, the extent of which is only limited by your imagination and budget.

Your website setup will include a custom theme following current standards and best development practices. We will ensure you’re only set up with plugins that are necessary to deliver what you need to limit unnecessary clutter. As standard, we complete cross-browser and cross-device testing to make sure your site looks top-notch at any size and provide an admin tutorial to help you get to know your site to help you navigate and edit your website.

Content: adding content to your website

We always set up the content on your website’s primary pages, as determined in scoping. These serve as a guide, along with an admin tutorial, if you wish to add the remaining content yourself. If you need content support, we can help. From copywriting to imagery, we can assist in a variety of ways, depending on your needs and budget.

    Launch: launching your new website

We deliver a completely managed launch process that includes everything you need for a smooth transition. Our dev team are able to coordinate with 3rd parties, complete server setups and provide search-engine-friendly redirects from your old site in preparation for your new website launch. Post launch, we will complete a series of tests and checks to ensure everything it running smoothly. We also offer free corrections for any snags that arise for up to 30 days post-launch.

A new website is more than just updating your online presence, it’s an opportunity to reflect on your business and evaluate your plans for the future. To kick off a discussion about a new website, get in touch with us today.

Website for Hannaford Turner on mobile

We’re passionate about creating robust, future-proof digital experiences, and our recent collaboration with international law firm Hannaford Turner presented a rewarding opportunity to do exactly that.

    Built for Speed and Stability

From the outset, the development goals were clear: deliver a site that is fast, secure and scalable, ensuing an exceptional user experience for both new visitors and returning clients from across the world.

    Clean, Modular Codebase

We developed the site promoting consistency, reusability and ease of maintenance. Every feature from team profiles to service pages was built as a self-contained module. This method allows the Hannaford Turner team to scale and adapt the site over time without the need to start from scratch or compromise performance.

CMS Integration for Control and Simplicity

We integrated a user-friendly CMS, WordPress, which is the most used and popular CMS in the world. We tailored this specifically to Hannaford Turner’s publishing needs. Editors can easily manage content across multiple sections of the site, with custom fields and workflows designed to streamline their process, no technical know-how necessary.

We also implemented accessibility best practices, including semantic HTML structure, keyboard navigability, and ARIA attributes, helping to ensure the site is usable by and compliant with AA accessibility standards.

    Cloud Hosting and Deployment

Finally, the site is deployed through a cloud-based hosting platform, offering continuous integration, automated deployments, and daily backups. This infrastructure not only supports fast global loading times but also provides reliability and scalability, ensuring Hannaford Turner’s online presence remains strong as it grows.

    A Development-First Success

Every detail of the Hannaford Turner website was engineered to deliver a seamless experience, not just on the surface, but deep in the code and structure that powers it.

We’re proud to have delivered a technically sound platform that reflects the professionalism and global reach of their firm.

Getting comfortable with AI in marketing

    by Becca

    Meeting discussion

Why people still matter, even when algorithms are doing the heavy lifting.

There’s no denying it: AI is reshaping the marketing world at an astonishing pace, from automated content creation to predictive analytics and hyper-personalised ad targeting. Artificial intelligence has become a powerhouse in the modern marketer’s toolkit. But as we embrace these tools, there’s a question we often ask ourselves here at Resolution:

“If AI can do so much, where do humans fit in?”

The short answer? Right at the heart of it.

The power (and limitations) of AI

AI can do a lot. It can analyse tons of data in seconds, optimise your campaigns while you sleep, and even generate content ideas based on trends and keywords.

At Resolution, we use AI to help us streamline research and spot insights faster. But what AI lacks is intuition. It can’t understand personality, pick up on emotional cues, or craft a message that can truly resonate with your unique audience. AI doesn’t understand nuance the way that people do, and AI-generated content can be easy to spot and sound robotic.

Marketing is still all about people

At its core, marketing is a conversation. It’s about building trust, telling stories and making meaningful connections. That’s not something AI can fully replicate or understand.

Your customers and clients are human, and as humans, we create authenticity. Customers want to know who you are, what you stand for, and, importantly, why they should care. That’s where the human element becomes truly irreplaceable. The tone of your message, the visual identity of your brand, and the overall experience you create. Those are all deeply human decisions that require human input.

So, where does Resolution come in?

We blend the best of both worlds, we use smart planning tools and AI-assisted strategies (where they make sense) to improve efficiency, deliver insights, and keep your campaigns nimble. Every strategy we craft, every website we design, and every brand identity we develop comes from real, meaningful conversations, experiences and a real, in-depth understanding of your business and audience.

    Strategy still needs vision

AI can help with optimisation, but it cannot define direction. A marketing strategy isn’t just a series of automated actions, it’s a vision shaped by your goals, values and long-term aspirations. That kind of thinking doesn’t come from a machine. It comes from experienced marketers who know how to listen, challenge assumptions and find creative ways to make your message resonate. That’s what we do best!

    The emotional edge

Consumers often make decisions driven by emotion rather than logic. While AI can analyse engagement metrics and user behaviours, it can’t tap into emotional intelligence. It’s not just about what you say, it’s how you say it. That’s where our creative team steps in to craft tone, style, visuals and messaging that feels right. Because connecting with people requires a human instinct.

    Embracing AI the smart way

So, we’re not anti-AI. Far from it! We believe that AI can make us better marketers when used thoughtfully. It helps us spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time doing the work that actually moves the needle – building creative, strategic, and human-led marketing that drives results.

Let’s create something that’s powered by tech but driven by people.

Reach out to our friendly team to find out more!

Why you should outsource your marketing in 2025

Resolution team discussion around the table

So far in 2025, companies have begun to pivot towards strategies that help them stay ahead of the competition. One notable approach is the outsourcing of marketing functions. This strategy brings a host of advantages, including significant cost reductions, improvements in marketing effectiveness and the ability to tap into a diverse pool of expertise all in one place.

The marketing industry has experienced remarkable changes over the past few years, particularly due to the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and the growing intricacies of digital platforms. To keep pace with these developments, businesses must invest in dedicated resources and ongoing education.

By outsourcing, companies can tap into the expertise of professionals who are well-versed in the latest marketing trends and tools, helping them stay relevant and competitive in the market.

So, what are the benefits of outsourcing your marketing?

    • Cost Efficiency: Running an internal marketing team comes with various costs, including salaries, training and the necessary infrastructure. With the UK Government’s increase in National Insurance expected to impact employment in 2025/26, these expenses could rise even further. By outsourcing marketing functions, companies can avoid these overhead costs, enabling them to use their resources and investments more strategically and effectively.
    • Access to Specialised Skills: Marketing encompasses various disciplines, including SEO/PPC, web applications, content creation, social media management and data analytics. Outsourcing connects businesses with experts proficient in these areas, ensuring the high-quality execution of marketing strategies.
    • Scalability and Flexibility: Outsourced services offer the flexibility to scale efforts based on the businesses’ needs, whether this be launching a new product or entering a different market.
    • Enhanced Focus on Core Activities: Delegating marketing tasks to external professionals allows business owners and internal teams to concentrate on primary operations, fostering innovation and efficiency.
    • Access to Advanced Tools and Technologies: Marketing agencies invest in the latest tools and platforms to deliver optimal results. Partnering with such agencies provides businesses with access to these resources without additional investments.

Resolution Design is an award-winning creative marketing agency. Since 2007 we have been dedicated to assisting SME businesses throughout the South West and beyond to achieve their growth objectives through comprehensive marketing solutions.

Here are just some of the services we offer –

    • Web Applications: Developing custom web solutions to meet unique business requirements.
    • Graphic Design: Crafting visually appealing materials that align with brand messaging for digital and print. From Logo design to social media campaigns, our designers are on hand to help bring your creative vision to life.
    • Digital Marketing: Implementing strategies across SEO, PPC, social media, email marketing and more to enhance online presence.
    • Website Development: Creating user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing websites that serve as effective digital storefronts.

(You can view our full range of services here!)

Our integrated approach ensures that all marketing efforts are cohesive and aligned with business goals and objectives. We offer a reliable partnership for businesses aiming to elevate their marketing strategies.

Outsourcing marketing functions in 2025 presents a strategic advantage for businesses seeking efficiency, expertise and flexibility. Collaborating with a reputable agency can provide tailored solutions that drive growth and success in an ever-evolving market landscape.

Barbers Milk Portal Mockup on mobile

Every team has an unsung hero, a player who consistently works hard and makes other players look great. So it is with Web Applications, the unsung hero of our services, quietly doing great things for our clients, but rarely mentioned. Well, this post will put that right by shining a spotlight on this lesser-known, but very clever service.

First off, what in the web world is a Web Application or Web App? The general definition is an ‘app’ that can only be accessed via a normal web browser like Chrome or Safari, which is a very broad definition. They are websites, yes, but they are not marketing websites, they perform specific functions. The web apps that we have created over the years have tackled many business issues, helping organisations run more efficiently as part of the drive towards digital transformation.

Looking back at our web app work it is a very impressive body of work for a small agency and we are justifiably proud of the technology we have created and the problems we have solved. So here’s the top 10 Resolution Web Applications.

    10. CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system for WTTL – 2010

We launched our first system in 2010 for WTTL, specialists in LGV driver training. From the outside, the web application was a booking system integrated into their website, that allowed learners to book courses. Behind the scenes it was a more comprehensive CRM system, allowing WTTL to manage their learners, courses, businesses and the administration of the entire learning process, including triggering renewals. Not a bad start to our web application journey. The system was used successfully for over 10 years, which is the normal lifespan for a web-based system, after which the technology on which it is built becomes outdated.

    9. Apprenticeship management system for PDS Group – 2011

PDS managed the apprenticeships for companies like Vodafone, Telefonica and O2. They needed a digital system that would allow them to manage the entire apprenticeship recruitment journey, including initial online application, applicant filtering, interview scheduling, trial days, acceptance/ rejection and all associated communications. Quite a beast.

I remember the first scoping meeting and the enormous flow chart we created on their wall-width whiteboard. I had to take 3 photos. Matt has a happy memory of the client literally ‘happy-clapping’ when he introduced the ‘let the magic happen’ button, which when clicked, went through all the chosen candidates, booked them into available interview slots, emailed them all the details along with link to map and directions.  Something that used to take PDS a very long lime to go through manually.

PDS were acquired by Global Knowledge in 2014 and they continued to use the system, a very satisfying endorsement.

    8. Pub Site Management System for Wadworth & Co – 2012

Wiltshire-based brewer commissioned us to create over 50 websites for their managed pub estate (in fact they did this twice, in 2012 and again in 2018). As part of this work, we were asked to create a bespoke CMS (Content Management System) to allow them to manage all the pub sites from one web application. We also created areas where they could push content to all the pubs with just one change centrally.

    7. Conveyancing Calculator for Awdry Bailey & Douglas (now Awdry Law) – 2012

For regional solicitors Awdry Law we created a system to enable them to calculate residential conveyancing costs and generate branded quotes that are auto-emailed to clients. The system has been expanded at various points and now includes residential and commercial apportionment for leasehold properties, it is still in active use.

    6. CRM for Lister Wilder – 2014

Agricultural dealership Lister Wilder commissioned us to create a bespoke CRM system for their sales team. One of our biggest builds, a comprehensive system with extensive capability and integrations with their stock management system. The system is still being used successfully.

    Lister Wilder website portal application

    5. Supplier portal for Barbers Cheesemakers – 2017

Barbers are the World’s oldest surviving makers of cheddar cheese. They source milk from hundreds of local dairy farms and needed an online supplier portal to allow them to transform the way they communicate with the suppliers and to allow easy logging of essential information like herd health, milk production and milk quality. The system was launched in 2017 and is still an essential tool.

    4. HR Portal for Barbers Cheesemakers – 2021

After the successful launch of the milk supplier portal, we were asked to create a portal for the HR department to enable effective communication of all things HR with the employees. The system was developed as an interface for the employee to access their information from the various HR related systems used internally.

    3. Subscription Management System for Resolution Design – 2022

Yes, a system for ourselves. We have a large number of regular subscriptions with clients for things like web hosting and monthly support. We needed a system to be the master ‘system of truth‘, so we know exactly who is on what package. It’s a comprehensive system that also includes invoice triggering. So good we made it into a product called Subzapp.

    2. Energy Performance Estimator for Quidos – 2023

Energy performance experts Quidos commissioned us to create an online Energy Performance Estimator, a junior EPC if you like. By integrating the extensive data they hold on energy performance we were able to create a system that can give accurate estimates of energy performance for any house in the UK.

    1. Supplier portal for Wyke Farms – 2024

Wyke Farms is another well-known cheddar cheesemaker. Following our work with Barbers they commissioned us to create a bespoke application for their milk suppliers. Another significant system.

So there you have it, quite a body of work I think you’ll agree. If you’re interested in solving a business problem with technology and would like some help to create a web application we’d love to hear from you.
