Premium label design for Roebuck Estates

    Roebuck label sheets

Recently, we were commissioned to create a luxury label design for the newest addition to the Roebuck Estates portfolio: Blanc de Noirs 2015.

Roebuck Estates is an award-winning producer of English sparkling wine, lauded by wine critics in a multitude of reviews.

Here at Resolution, we enjoy nothing more than a fully integrated creative project. We joined forces with Roebuck at the very beginning, designing the brand, website, product labelling, and collateral. We previously created label designs for their award-winning Classic Cuvée – both the 2013 and 2014 vintages.

Watching this brand grow – and tasting their exceptional wine – has been a joy.

Label design inspired by West Sussex beauty

Roebuck Estates is a quintessentially English brand – with world-class standards.

Nestled in the rolling downs of West Sussex, their estate-grown fruit ripens within four stunning Roebuck-owned vineyards. The brand takes its name from the deer that roam across the estate’s landscapes.

This rural aesthetic was central to our brief for the Blanc de Noirs label.

Just as Rosé is distinguished by pink-hued labelling, Blanc de Noirs is traditionally adorned with black labelling, due to the dark grapes used to produce the wine.

We wanted to reflect the charming wildlife and countryside against a black backdrop.

A local artist, raised print, and gold foiling

We’d worked with Jo Beal previously and felt her beautiful illustrative line style would elegantly enhance the Roebuck label.

We commissioned her with a brief to create an illustration inspired by the West Sussex countryside. This featured details such as the inclusion of wildflowers that grow in abundance around Roebuck’s estates.

Once Jo had produced some sketches, we began the complex process of refining and testing elements of the label design to ensure they worked with the raised print process.

This method brings out Jo’s design against the label’s matte black surface, a refined gloss decoration that reflects the luxury of Roebuck’s Blanc de Noirs. We then complemented this with gorgeous gold foiling.

Once tests were run and final touches had been made, the product was ready: a subtle yet striking label with a premium feel. The perfect match for Roebuck’s Blanc de Noirs.

More Roebuck delight – and another label design

Since Blanc de Noirs 2015 launched, Roebuck has announced the impending release of their Rosé de Noirs, featuring another Resolution-designed label. We can’t wait to try it.

There’s also talk of a Magnum, but for now, we’ll simply say watch this space…

We're a Google Partner: here's why that matters

A blurred version of the Google Logo

Great news: we’re a Google Partner! But… why should you care?

Every year, SMEs invest significant chunks of their marketing budgets with the leading PPC platform, Google Ads. They do this because:

    • Google boasts 92.96% of the search engine market share worldwide, making it the ideal place to boost brand awareness – up to 80% via Google Ads.
    • Google Ads is the most popular PPC solution, offering an average ROI of 200%.
    • As customers look to Google as their ultimate guide, it’s no surprise that 41% of clicks in Google searches select the top 3 paid ads.

All of the above are enticing, persuasive figures. However, PPC is complex. To fully reap its rewards and make it work for your business (without emptying your wallet), you want someone with proven credentials, expertise, and a track record of success in the area.

In other words, you want a Google Partner…

How do you become a Google Partner?

The Google Partner badge is awarded when a business or individual achieves advanced proficiency in Google Ads, qualifying as an expert in PPC advertising.

Google Partners can specialise in four Google Ads product areas, one of which is Search Advertising: this is our area of expertise.

A Partner specialising in Search is skilled in the creation and optimisation of Google Ads – the ads users see on Google Search results pages. They’re also seasoned in keyword strategy and budget planning. In other words, they’re great at getting you noticed online – in the most cost-efficient way.

    piggy bank and coins

o earn Google Partner status, you must:

    • Meet Google’s performance benchmark by delivering sustained growth and overall ad revenue for clients’ Google Ads accounts over 18 months.
    • Expand your client base while retaining existing client accounts.
    • Pass exams in Google Ads product knowledge – for the Search Advertising speciality, this includes advanced Search concepts and best practices for the creation, management, measurement, and optimisation of search advertising campaigns.
    • Be familiar with current Google Ads product knowledge.

Now we’ve established how the Google Partner badge is earned, let’s take a look at the top 4 reasons why it’s smart to use a Google Partner for your PPC:

    1. You get the best value for money

To get real bang for your buck – and tangible results – you want to work with an agency that has an in-depth understanding of Google Ads features, from keywords to budgeting and ad bidding.

When you use a Google Partner, you have peace of mind you’re hiring someone with a proven track record creating effective PPC campaigns. They will tailor your PPC strategy to fit your brand’s unique needs, drive the right traffic to your site, and generate optimal results.

    2. You stay ahead of the curve

To meet Google’s ever-evolving standards, Google Partners must stay informed of the latest PPC best practices, keeping them ahead of the digital curve at all times.

By choosing a Google Partner, you have greater certainty your PPC campaigns are informed by up-to-date knowledge and insights – straight from Google’s mouth – which gives you a competitive edge.

    3. High quality is non-negotiable

To retain the Google Partner badge, the holder has to take yearly certification exams. These assessments test Partners on PPC best practices, along with the newest Google Ads product features – an 80% pass rate is required. Google also provides Partners with training sessions that cover current PPC strategies.

If a company doesn’t meet Google’s standards, the Partner badge can be taken away. This gives you the assurance you’re working with the best – no pretenders here.

    4. Close ties with Google

Google Partners have a direct contact at Google: incredibly handy if and when you have issues or queries regarding your Google Ads campaign.

Google fields enquiries from countless companies every day, so a reliable, speedy means of communication can potentially save you money and time.

    How can we help you?

Our solid, wide-ranging knowledge of Google Ads, SEO, and digital marketing makes us an ideal partner for your PPC campaigns. From strategy creation to detailed reporting and monitoring, we work to hone PPC campaigns that deliver measurable results.

If you’re interested in improving your brand’s visibility and growing your audience, improving your searchability on Google is a clever place to start.

Business as a force for good

    by Richard

    2 minute read

We want our staff, customers and suppliers to view us positively and we want to minimise our impact on the environment and find ways to contribute to our communities.

This involves doing many little things… like offering flexible working, nurturing a positive culture, recycling, using like-minded suppliers and using renewable heating and electricity. All these things, and more, we’ve been doing for over a decade.

Doing our bit has hopefully helped to improve the lives of those close to us, but the expansion of commercial activity around the globe means that the world is in significantly worse shape now than it was when we started 12 years ago. Not that we were expecting our activity to do much of course, but we were hoping that there would be more of a movement within the businesses community for environmental and social change.

Thankfully there are signs that this movement is just starting to gather pace. On a macro level, many are questioning the value of our growth focussed economic model, at ground level consumers are actively looking for ethical brands.

Many businesses are now responding and some have been doing good things for years. Take Patagonia, the sports clothing company, they have been donating 1% of their sales to saving the planet, and encouraging others to do the same, since 1985.

Businesses that take their responsibilities seriously and want a sustainable economy that benefits everyone can prove it if they wish, by becoming Certified B Corporations. Certified B Corporations are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.

Started in the USA 11 years ago, businesses in the UK are now getting on board. Interestingly Bristol is second only to London in the number of B Corp certified businesses.

We love the idea and have just started the rigorous B Corps impact assessment. Watch this space.

    Digital Agency Awards Finalists

    by Richard

    1 minute read

Now that’s quite a few agencies, some big names, working with some very well know brands and multi-national businesses.  Which is why we were so pleased to have our work shortlisted for the 3rd consecutive year, this time in the ‘digital transformation’ category, showcasing digital marketing work that has a truly transformational impact.

Our entry was the supplier portal that we created for Barbers Cheesemakers, a fantastic project, you can read the case study here. So last week Matt and I dusted off our DJs and attended a suitably glitzy do at Southampton Guildhall to find out the results.

After being shortlisted previously (in fact runners-up in 2017) we were hoping it might be third time lucky. Sadly it was not to be… our congratulations to the winners, Nomensa, for their work with Virgin Media.

We look forward to next year, mindful of the wise words of our excellent compere for the evening Ed Byrne, “If you didn’t win this year…. try harder next time”.
