Stonehenge & Avebury World Heritage Site
The Stonehenge & Avebury World Heritage Site (WHS) represents one of the most extraordinary prehistoric landscapes in the world. A place of deep cultural, spiritual, and archaeological importance.
The WHS’s previous website had served its purpose well, but was becoming dated both visually and technically. Navigation was complex, and the design was no longer fully responsive.
The WHS approached Resolution to reimagine their online presence. A modern, accessible, and inspiring digital home that reflects the timeless significance of the site while supporting the WHS’s mission to inform, educate, and engage.
Our approach
We began with a discovery phase, working closely with the SAWHS team to understand their audiences, objectives, and content structure. From that foundation, we focused on three core principles:
Accessibility and clarity
The site needed to serve a wide range of users, from researchers to visitors. We developed a clear, intuitive information architecture, simplifying navigation and ensuring seamless usability across all devices.
Immersive storytelling
Stonenege and Avebury are more than historical monuments; they are living landscapes. Through high-quality imagery and thoughtful typography, we aimed to capture that sense of scale, atmosphere and continuity.
Flexibility for the future.
The new site was built to be robust and easy to manage, giving the WHS team full control over content updates, event listings, and resources. This ensures the site can grow and evolve alongside their projects and partnerships.
The result
The redesigned site offers a cleaner, more modern interface that reflects the prestige of a UNESCO World Heritage Site while remaining warm, accessible and community-focused.
A digital experience that bridges the ancient and the modern, celebrating the enduring legacy of Stonehenge and Avebury while supporting the WHS’s forward-looking vision.
The new site now stands as a digital gateway to one of the world’s most iconic heritage landscapes. Engaging audiences, supporting learning and inspiring exploration.
